Hooded Merganser

The first sign of spring is when the hooded merganser ducks migrate and land on our pond in the mornings. I was wondering what a certain sound was the other day. I didn't know that the ducks make this noise. Click here to to listen

Well it has been all of 9 years since we've had snow like this. From 6:00am till 10:00am we enjoyed the snow while it lasted.

Trying out the swing

Phillip tries out the rope swing while visiting for the weekend. Getting to the starting point tests your courage; after that it's a lot of fun. :)

King Cake Time

Jill gave us a really good king cake recipe and we tried it out. Beth read the directions from the couch while Tee and I did some creative interpreting. It was soooo good that I ate almost half of it. Sorry guys. :) Dad

We had a lot of fun making it too.

Yuk!!

Maggie likes to visit where hunters have been, usually because they field dress their deer after hunting. Well she brought home a trophy for us recently. I think it's a six point buck. Don't know where she got it or where she put it after she was done. We get surprises like deer legs from time to time, but none like this one.

Happy Funny Family :o)

This saying has been with our family since the kids were very young, and it has helped keep me focused in the toughest of times. ( I haven't quite finished editing these but I am constantly working on it.)

What these words mean to me.

"Happy"
Strive for a joy filled household. I have witnessed people enjoying life even during the toughest of times. It didn't seem to matter what they were going through, they enjoyed and shared the good that God gave them. To me and to my family, that is the definition of true happiness. Psalm 146: 5, James 1:2, Philippians 2:17-18, Joshua 24:15

"Funny"

To laugh at ourselves and at life is to accept that we are human. We are not perfect we are just striving for perfection and in the process, sometimes we look, act and say things that are rather ridiculous. To laugh at ourselves is to humble ourselves. A sense of humor and laughter is great for the soul. Proverbs 17:22

"Family"
Guard and love your family well because it is the bonding part of faith. The family is the biblical example of how our lives are structured. It is a visual example of our faith to others. Even those without an earthly family, have the Church family, a group of believers in Christ. 1 Timothy 5:16, Philippians 2:1-5

Family Portrait for 2009

This is our family portrait for 2009. It seemed like a good idea to have everyone in the pile of leaves until the dogs joined in. As usual, they made this experience fun.

At the Swoopes for the Youth Party

We had a lot of fun at the Swoopes. One of the games was spitting grapes into cups to get points and whoever got the most points won. It was parents against the kids. We also played cracker ninja tag. Roasting marshmallows and eating smores after eating hot dogs. Sitting by the fire next to the river and watching the sunset. The kids then played flashlight tag. It doesn't get any better than this.

Root Canal

Neat pano of my skull and full set of teeth

Cool rads of the tooth that needed attention. I never knew really what a root canal was all about. That was until I had one Friday. For me it was kind of like getting a filling but not as bad. It just took a longer time. I can only hope that if I get this done again on other teeth that it will go as well. more info...

Pouring a Driveway

This was an interesting project. One of my friends Tom Marlin was pouring concrete for his driveway. He did most of the work himself but needed help when the concrete truck arrived to pour. So he called upon his friends and we helped as best we could. It was pretty easy but we had to work very fast. For a first time I thought we did pretty good.
